About Us
The Hugh James Foundation was established to honor the life and work of a dedicated educator whose impact on the community of Cornwall Mountain, Jamaica, remains profound.
Hugh James taught at the local school for 29 years. He was more than a teacher, he was a guiding light. His passion for education, boundless kindness, and unwavering belief in every student’s potential created a legacy that continues to shape the foundation’s work today.
The foundation was built to reflect the values he cared about most: commitment, growth, and striving for excellence.
Our Mission: Empowering Cornwall Mountain Students
The Hugh James Foundation’s core mission is to invest directly in the academic potential of Cornwall Mountain’s future leaders. Through School Support Jamaica, an initiative of the foundation, we provide tangible support to help students overcome financial barriers and succeed in their first critical year of high school and beyond.
While our immediate focus is on urgent Hurricane Melissa relief, our long-term commitment remains rooted in education. Every initiative—whether hurricane recovery support, scholarships, or school supply drives—reflects our belief that education is the most powerful tool for transforming communities.
